Feeding Hong Kong is the first Hong Kong food bank dedicated to rescuing surplus nutritious food from retailers, distributors and manufacturers and redistributing it to people in need. Their task is to fight hunger in Hong Kong and at the same time, reduce the amount of quality food that is being sent to the city’s landfills. Every day Feeding Hong Kong collects fresh, high-quality food that would otherwise be thrown away, and delivers it to a network of partner charities that provide food to those in need.

fhk1Every day, 3,400 tonnes of food waste are sent to landfills in Hong Kong, while one million people live in poverty struggling to afford nutritious meals. In 2017, Feeding Hong Kong collected 493,000 kgs of food which supported close to 1.2 million meals for people in need across HK. This was distributed through 96 charities and community programmes across the city.
